COBoP - Community Outcomes Bay of Plenty

COBoP is a partnership of local authority and Central Government managers from throughout the Bay of Plenty Region, established in late 2005 to support high quality inter-sectoral agency work in the Region. Its purpose is to develop new ways for agencies to plan and work together. Current sub-groups are based around:

  • Economic transformation.
  • Environmental well-being.
  • Housing.
  • Safe and healthy communities.
  • Community outcomes monitoring and reporting.

Each of the groups meets monthly and works toward a three year action plan. Current and recent projects include:

  • Commissioning research on the state of the Bay of Plenty regional economy.
  • Guiding the establishment of a regional sustainable development strategy.
  • Hosting workshops on regional environmental well-being.
  • Developing a long-term regional housing strategy.
  • Hosting forums on housing affordability in the coastal Bay of Plenty Region.
  • Working alongside key stakeholders to develop a regional healthy homes strategy.
  • Commissioning a workplace wellness assessment of COBoP member agencies to support HEHA (Healthy Eating and Healthy Action).
  • Promoting the World Health Organisation's Safe Community Accreditation to local authorities.
  • Monitoring and reporting progress toward local and regional community outcomes.
